Rockawear's 10 year anniversary Diamond collection add is ment to appeal to male readers of King Magazine. The hidden message in this add is seduction towards metro sexuality. The add gives men the idea that buying expensive sunglasses, jeans, and sneakers will make you look more like a real man. This add goes along with Bordo's second quote where she talks about male products that enhances male appearances. I agree with Bordo when she claims products are now marketed with an obscure relation to feminine versions of the same product.I believe men and women have the same common interest in what there appearance is especially when they are influence by the media and adds on what we are suppose to look like.
Good analysis of the ad and although at first I thought the third quote would work better with your ad, I now also see the connection between your ad and the second quote. Much like ads for women's clothing/accessories/shoes, this ad presents the products as larger than life and against a background of a closet. But all of this is presented in a masculine manner, much like when ad employ euphemisms for male products which correspond to female beauty products.
