For my second research paper I would like to talk about the positives in bromancing. I want to talk about how it affects people, but mostly focus on how the media promotes bromancing. Some media sources i plan on using is I Love You Man, Superbad, Entourage, Jersey Shore, and Friends.
I plan on looking into the behavior between two character in movies and television and see if they resemble behavior like men in reality do in "Bromancing". I also plan to to find opinions of others on this topic.
This is an interesting topic and much in the forefront of a media trend. Some men embrace the concept of bromance, while others reject it as they associate it with homosexuality. Looking at popular television shows is a great idea but you need to find actual research studies conducted by trusted sources, as media's messages might not be in fact indicative of how men are reacting to 'bromancing.' What do you mean 'opinions of others'? You cannot possibly conduct an objective survey on a reliable sample of subject as you don't have the resources or funds to do so. Asking friends or people in LAGCC about bromance is not a vaild source for this project. So your preliminary thesis is the positive impact of bromance on masculinity and media's role in promoting 'the bromance' phenomenon? The proposal had three parts, but you only present two?
ReplyDeleteYou should look at Michael Kimmel's book, Guyland (2008).
